With the 7000 Series handheld steamer, you can steam your clothes anytime. You don’t need an ironing board, and your clothes will still be neatly smooth and tight. The steamer is ready to use within thirty seconds, so you’ll still leave looking tip-top even if you choose an outfit at the last minute.

The steamer has an adjustable head that Philips claims is unique on the market. This allows you to steam your clothes from any angle. Horizontal or vertical: it’s all possible. The pointed tip at the end ensures that you can iron out creases with even more precision. Buttons, zippers, and collars are also no problem thanks to the pointed tip. In addition, the hand steamer is equipped with the special so-called OptimalTEMP technology. This means that the steamer always works with the right temperature and amount of steam for all clothing fabrics, without the risk of burns.

The 7000 Series handheld steamer has two settings: an Eco setting for prolonged steaming without using too much water, and a Max setting for a little extra power. It also comes with two water tanks, a smaller 100ml tank for freedom of movement due to its lighter weight, and a larger 200ml tank to remove wrinkles from your entire outfit in one go.

Result

Ultimately, of course, it’s all about the result, and the test panel agrees: the result is very good. “For light creases with easy-to-iron fabric, it’s an ideal and quick solution,” says one of the testers. It does what it’s supposed to do, and the creases and the smell are out of your shirt in no time.”

The other testers agree wholeheartedly. “For light wrinkles, the device does exactly what it is supposed to do,” says one of them, and another agrees: “With thinner fabrics, the wrinkles disappear very quickly.”

What the testers did notice is that the handheld steamer sometimes lacks power with thicker fabrics and deep creases. “With thicker fabrics, you have to steam for a little longer to get a good result,” says one of them, and another agrees: “Especially with fabrics that tend to hold stubborn creases for a long time, it was difficult to remove the deeper creases.”

Ease of use

The test panel is unanimously positive about the user-friendliness of the hand steamer. “The device fits well in the hand and is quickly ready for use, very nice if you want to quickly steam a piece of clothing.” More testers mentioned this aspect as an example: “The device is easy to operate, and the fast heating, which means the hand steamer is ready for use within a few moments, is noticeable.”

One of the testers uses a comparison with a regular iron: “I live in a fairly small place and I always find unfolding the ironing board and turning on the steam generator such a hassle. This handheld steamer is nice and compact, which is ideal for me.”

Another tester had to get used to using it at first, but that quickly changed: “At first I had to get used to holding a shirt with one hand and steaming it with the other, but practice makes perfect.”

The same tester also explicitly mentions the different settings. “I find it especially useful that you can choose between the Eco and Max settings. This way you can adjust the amount of steam exactly to what you need.”

Another test panel member also found the ease of use to be perhaps the biggest plus. “The removable water tank is very handy. It is easy to fill and provides enough steam for an ironing session.” And that’s not all: “The compact size and lightweight design also make it a handy device for traveling.” Finally, the handy storage bag was also mentioned as an extra plus, as was the protective glove that comes with the device.

Conclusion

Ironing is a chore that many people find annoying, but with the Philips 7000 Series handheld steamer, that problem is partly a thing of the past. The test panel was basically very pleased with the performance of the handheld steamer, especially with thinner fabrics and Easy Iron shirts. Smoothing out heavier fabrics was a bit more difficult, and for really deep creases, a regular iron or steam generator is worth considering, but in most cases, the handheld steamer did a more than fine job.

The 7000 Series also distinguishes itself in its ease of use. The device is light and easy to pick up and is ready for use in no time. The two different modes were often mentioned as a big plus, as were the two removable and easy-to-fill water reservoirs.

All in all, the Review.nl Test Panel is very pleased with the Philips 7000 Series handheld steamer, and the average final score of 8.5 from the test is more than deserved.
